Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to what patients ask us most about treatment and care.

General dentists usually take X-rays to look for cavities, which only show the crown of the teeth. In our office, we need to see the entire tooth, including the tip of the root and the surrounding bone.

Each insurance plan is written differently. You may contact your insurance carrier using the codes on your treatment plan to determine what they may cover. We can also submit a pre-determination of benefits, but there is no guarantee of how long it will take for the pre-determination to be returned to you by your insurance provider.

We offer in-house payment plans for procedures only. Payment plans are available for up to 12 months, and we must have a debit/HSA/credit card on file.

There is no cure for periodontal disease, but it can be stabilized with proper treatment. Ongoing periodontal maintenance, typically alternating visits between our office and your general dentist, along with excellent at-home oral hygiene helps keep the disease under control.

Once you have been diagnosed with periodontal disease, you will always have periodontal disease. It is a disease that has to be managed, it cannot be “fixed.” Our goal is to help get your gums healthy, and keep them healthy. It is imperative that you see your periodontist at minimum, once a year. Depending on the stage of your disease, you may have to be seen in our office more often.

Yes, it is important to probe pocket depths and recession. If you are sensitive to this, let us know! There are options we can use to numb the gums (that do not involve shots) to help with sensitivity.
